30 week update

2 more updates to report!

30 week sonogram:
Had my 30 week sono with the specialist on Monday. Everything went so well, I was so pleased. The doctor looked at all Mary Harper's internal organs and bones, liver, kidneys, heart, brain, spine, bladder, etc. Everything looked really good. He measured the amniotic fluid level, which was in the normal range, as well as the cranium and femur to check date......measured right at 30 weeks, so good there.  Then he showed me the placenta and you could actually see the umbilical cord coming out of it and into the baby, the doctor pushed this button which made red and blue colors flow all through the placenta to the baby. The red color was the blood flowing to the baby and the blue color was the blood flowing from the baby, so amazing.

He also said the baby is "still a girl", ha, thanks doc! And that she was currently in the head down position, which I responded "I hope she stays that way!" Nothing else to report there, just a good, healthy, solid report to give back to my OB. Thank you LORD!

30 week appointment:
Yesterday, I had my regular 30 week appointment with my OB. For this appointment, I met with Dr. Caskie. A couple years ago she was on the cover of Washingtonian Magazine as one of DC's best doctors AND Susan Yates, the wife of the the Pastor of Falls Church goes to her, so I kind of felt like I was meeting with a celebrity! hahahaha!

She was really great, went over my vitals: urine; normal, no protein    blood pressure; 108 over 69, perfectly normal   weight; plus 2 pounds

Then she checked my tummy growth, measuring right at 30 weeks. She made me sit up from a laying position a couple times to check my stomach muscles. She gave me a couple pointers of things to look out for, if something were to go wrong: sharp pain in upper abdomen, nausea, bleeding, etc.  She also checked the babies heart rate with the doppler, which was between 140 and 145.

She noted that they may run a stress test at 34 weeks, just to make sure everything with the baby is a-ok. I asked her about Group B Strep test, which they will check one last time at 36 weeks pregnant. I also inquired again about induction and striping of membranes.  She said that they would usually set an induction date of 7 days past due, if I made it that far. And by looking at my due date (July 7th) she said that I will probably be really ready for this baby to come, so they might even start doing some membrane striping procedures around 37 weeks, which I am totally ok with!

Next appointment at 32 weeks on May 12th, I will meet with Dr. Holmes the last doctor in the practice that I need to meet. Its so nice knowing one of these women will deliver me :)

All for know!

i love your posts bc i feel like i'm walking through this with you. (such an honor!) but also bc i feel less scared/nervous for when it happens to me (gosh i just made pregnancy sound like a disease!) but you know what i mean. it is great to have a friend in the same community go to doctors and go through all of this and to be able to see everything just goes smoothly. and that someone will know and be wise when it's my turn! i'm so thankful! now we just need to hang out!
