West Virginia Camping

Back in August, Whit and I coordinated a small group of our close friends to go camping in West Virginia. We had been wanting to go camping for awhile and took advantage of one of the last weeks of summer to make it happen. Whit, Adam, Pev and Andy all lived together in this house in Falls Church before we were married. Whit went to Clemson with Andy's wife, Carla and introduced Carla and Andy to one another when Carla moved up to DC to work on the hill. They were married in Nov. 2006, Whit and I followed in April 2007 and then Adam and Jackie were married in Sept. 2007. And we have all adopted Pev :)

They are such good friends and we had a great time. We camped at this site called The Treehouse Camp, which has all these little cabins "in the trees", but since we are so hard-core, and the girls were outnumbered, we decided to camp on the ground in tents :)

We did some hiking, tubing down the river and lots of cooking out, it was so great to get outside of DC

There was this weird punching stand at the tube place while we were waiting to load the buses, of course, my husband decided to try it out :)

Come to Me...

My dear friend Betsy, wrote this verse to me in a note the other day, and although I had read it so many times before, it just touched me so much. I love that picture of the Lord taking our burdens and exchanging it for his yoke, which is light and gives us rest.

I am yearning for rest these days...and choosing to go to the only place that offers true rest....

"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

Thank you, Betsy
