Ran across these pics from Christmas. My mom, Aunt Kathy and I all got Burberry Coats for X-mas, here we are showing them off. We are dorks. Below is a pic with Whit and my cousins, Blake, Davis and Reed.

Our Rental :)
This is mostly for the out-of-town family :)
For those of you who don't know, Whit and I moved into a new town-home back in February. We loved our cute little abode in Del Ray, Alexandria, but we needed a bit more space. Since the DC housing market is still pretty risky, we decided to continue renting. We love our Fairlington town-home, its the perfect size and still affordable. To give those of you who live in the south a little perspective, an identical town home across the way just sold for $564,000. Thats actually pretty cheap, they were selling for about 650K about two years ago. The funny thing is, we aren't even living in DC proper, we are about 7 miles out. Its ridiculous, I know, but we are thankful to have it!

Southern Ties
I love the ties that Southern Men wear. They are so fun! No need to always feel you have to buy "Vineyard Vines" ties to look nice. The "Sero" brand has great ties with fun patterns and they are about half the price. I recently found a couple for 19.99 at Filenes Basement for Whit. I love that Whit can "get into" ties, and cares about what they look like :) Below are a few of my favorite of Whit's.
My Memorial Weekend
Carolina Couple
I should have posted this forever ago, but here are some pics of the going away party that we threw for anna and Ryan. We threw a little mexican fiesta before anna and ryan headed off to their road trip this summer. After the road trip they will be living in Winston-Salam, NC while Ryan attends business school at UNC. Anna and Ryan were Falls Church fellows the year after me and we have had so many fun memories together. We went to Kenya together after their fellows year, and Whit and Ryan lived together in the Westmoreland house before we got married. Oh yeah, and we were married exactly 6 months apart (R&A on Oct. 14th and me and Whit April 14th). Also, Ryan and Anna put together this great couples bible study with Ellie and Peter and Betsy and David.
It was a great night to celebrate Anna and Ryan, we will miss them SO much!
p.s. it was about 100 degrees in DC on June 7th, and Washingtonians are just NOT used to that kid of heat :)

So long....Farewell
Last Thursday night we had a little good-bye cook-out for our friends Mike and Julie Wright, who are leaving DC to move to Durham, NC so that Julie can begin business school in the fall. Julie was a member of my girls bible study group, and I have known her since I moved up to DC. Mike and Julie actually got married the weekend right after Whit and me, so fun! We were still on our honeymoon, so we weren't able to make it back to DC in time, but we had a blast talking about and planning our weddings together.
Julie and Mike are the first of three of our friends that our leaving DC. Anne Moore (center in the pink orange-ish shirt below) is leaving this weekend to move back to Texas. And also our dear friends, Anna and Ryan Applegate our leaving in about 10 days to Winston-Salem, NC so that Ryan can go to business school. Whit and I are throwing a going away party (with three other couples) at our house this weekend, so I will post pics on that later.
Anyways, it has been a little sad lately with all these dear friends leaving. Whit and I have always said that one of the major reasons we are in DC (and why we had our wedding here) was because of the rich and unique community that we are blessed with. The flip side of that is DC is such a transient place, with people coming and going, presidential administrations moving in then moving out 8 years later, so there is always turn-over.
Truthfully, it makes us miss the south! We will see what the next years hold, but with all these departures lately we can't help but wonder where God may be leading us.

Amy Marie's Wedding!!!
This past weekend, Whit and I were in Nashville for the wedding of one of my best friend's, Amy Marie Adams Hann!!!. It was SUCH a great weekend and such a beautiful wedding! We took a half day on Friday and flew out of BWI at 3pm, got to Nashville at about 4:30 and went straight to the hotel to check in. After freshening up a bit, we headed over to Mark's loft in East Nashville to help set up for the welcome wine and cheese party on Friday night. It was great to mix and mingled with friends as well as Amy and Mark's family.
Saturday, Amy had a lovely brunch for her bridesmaids at this precious place called Marche in East Nashville. We spent the rest of the day getting manicures and pedicures and then getting ready for the rehearsal dinner. After a brief run through of the wedding, Mark's parents hosted a dinner of upscale Tennessee bar-b-que, complete with a keg of beer from the local brewery. After dinner we headed over to this hilarious honky tonk in downtown Nashville called Roberts. Some of the "older" gentlemen in the club kept repeatedly asking some of my cute girl friends for a dance on the floor.
There was a pretty bad thunderstorm all through out the night on Saturday, but by the start of the wedding at 10:00 am on Sunday the clouds had burned off and the sun was out!
I don't have all of our pictures yet, but here are a few to get you started :)
Sunny, Amy's beloved yellow lab, was the ring bearer....notice the pink leash and how her "handler" is trying to hold her back :)

all the little kids with Amy and Sunny the dog
Out at Robert's, a famous honky tonk in Nashville. Love that my husband is drinking "PBR"
Roberts. Oh yeah.
The seer sucker men. Whit's bow tie matched my pink brides maid dress :)
