Our sister in law, Clara moved up to DC to start her new job at KeelPoint about a month ago. For the first two weeks, she lived with us until she and her roommates found an apartment in DC. They rented a precious town home in the Palisades, just north of Georgetown. Whit drove down to South Carolina last Friday to meet a couple folks and then help his parents pack up the U-Haul with all of Clara's stuff and then drive it up to DC. They finally got to our house late on Friday night. We slept in a little on Saturday and then made our way over to new Clara's house to start the move-in process.
Everything was going swimmingly, until the men (Whit, his Dad Walker and Clara's boyfriend Nick) tried to move the queen sized mattress up the stairs to Clara's second story bedroom. As so many old homes and town homes in this part of the country are, the stairwell going up stairs was way too narrow to fit the queen sized mattress and box spring. We tried to push as hard as we could but the walls along the stairs began to bend and crush the box spring. We were about to tell Clara to just sell the mattress and purchase a smaller full-sized one, when Walker had one last idea.
Please see the video below. Clara and Nick hoisting the mattress up. Walker on the ladder. And my husband on top of the roof. Awesome.
